Changes to the combined ACT Seniors card/TC MyWay card
When the new MyWay+ ticketing system goes live in November you will no longer be able to use the current combined ACT Seniors/TC MyWay card to tap on and off public transport. However, you should continue to use your current ACT Seniors card to access other benefits, including discounts arranged through the Council of the Ageing (COTA). The only difference is that the side of the card with TC MyWay will become redundant.
The new MyWay+ system will allow you to travel on buses and light rail similar to how you do now but with more options for how you pay, including a range of simple ticketing options like tapping on with a bank card or smartphone via the MyWay+ app or digital wallet you can choose what works for you, or by using a travel card as you do today.
If you would like to continue to use a physical travel card, MyWay+ cards will be available from a greater number of retail agents, including the major supermarket brands. Concession can be applied at the time of purchase or alternatively be added through a MyWay+ account. Further details and instructions will be announced as the system ‘go live’ date gets closer.
ACT Seniors card holders will still be entitled to the same concession travel discounts. This includes free travel for over 70s, and free off-peak travel for those aged between 60 and 70 working less than 20 hours per week.
