MyWay+ account and app

Using your MyWay+ account and app

On this page:

MyWay+ account

Your MyWay+ account provides personalised and convenient travel management. You can set up contactless payments, link your MyWay+ travel card, register a concession, view your transaction and travel history, and customise your app notifications.

Account set up

There are two options to create a MyWay+ account.

Watch our video tutorial on how to create a MyWay+ account, or read the below text instructions.

Please note that it is important to enable pop ups in your system settings on your phone or web browser, as the MyWay+ app and customer portal require a new pop up window to securely link your credit or debit card to your account and complete the account set up process.

Option 1: Sign in with an ACT Digital Account

MyWay+ and the ACT Government’s preferred identity manager is ACT Digital Account. You may already have an account that you can use to create your MyWay+ account.

You can use your existing ACT Digital Account to log in, or you can follow the prompts to create a new ACT Digital Account. This simplifies access to your MyWay+ account and integrates it with other ACT Government services. Once you have created a MyWay+ account either by directly signing up or by signing up through your ACT Digital Account check your inbox for a verification email. Click the link provided to confirm your account.

Create a MyWay+ account or sign in to your MyWay+ account.

Option 2: Create a MyWay+ account without an ACT Digital Account

Begin by selecting ‘Sign Up’ on the MyWay+ registration page. Select ‘Create a MyWay+ account without ACT Digital Account’.

Your full name and email address is required to set up a MyWay+ account. To ensure security and verification requirements are met, every MyWay+ account requires a unique email address.

Once you create an account you will be sent a verification email with a link that you must click on to activate your account. The email also includes your username which is usually your first and last name separated by a full stop. You will need your username to sign into your account.

Link a contactless payment method

You can link an unlimited number of contactless payment methods (physical cards or cards stored in smartphones or smartwatches) to your MyWay+ account.

Watch our video tutorial on how to link a payment method, or read the below text instructions.

To link your preferred contactless cards (Mastercard or Visa) in your MyWay+ account, select ‘Link fare cards’ on the menu and input your bank card details.

Important: A physical bank card (Mastercard or Visa) is treated the same as one stored in your digital wallet. However, when tapping on and off public transport, the physical and digital card are considered different.

Contactless payment methods can only be linked to one user account at a time.

If a contactless card is delinked from an account, it cannot be linked to another account for 45 days. This restriction allows for any potential debt recovery to be processed.

Buy and link MyWay+ travel cards

You can buy a MyWay+ travel card:

Travel and transaction history

View your travel and transaction history in the home page of your MyWay+ account.

Register a concession (if eligible)

You can apply your correct fare type including concessions in the account details within your MyWay+ account.

Watch our video tutorial on how to register for a concession through your MyWay+ account, or read the below text instructions.

Select ‘Register concession’ on the menu. Select ‘Concession’ under Fare Type, and then ‘select your concession type’ from the list. Press the ‘Submit’ button. Check concession eligibility.

Important: Concessions are set to expire based on predefined time periods. If you have a MyWay+ account you will receive email notification 15 days before your concession is set to expire, reminding you to update or revalidate your concession. Accounts where concessions are not revalidated will revert to a standards adult account.

MyWay+ app

You can log in to the MyWay+ app using your account details. You must be logged in to manage your account, link your MyWay+ travel card, view your transaction and travel history, and receive custom trip notifications. If you don't log in, you can still use the MyWay+ app to access basic features such as viewing public transport routes and planning your journey. For full functionality, it’s recommended to create and log into your MyWay+ account.

Real time journey planner

The real time journey planner provides comprehensive real time travel options. This includes walking directions, cycling routes and public transport journeys.

You can turn on trip notifications for personalised messages in the journey planner to:

  • be notified when your bus or light rail vehicle is approaching
  • receive an alert when you are within 500 metres of your destination stop.

Read more about real time journey planning for detailed instructions on how to set up your phone for a better experience.

MyWay+ pass (in-app ticket)

If you have a MyWay+ account, you can use a MyWay+ pass within the app to travel on bus and light rail services.

How to use a MyWay+ pass

When opening the MyWay+ app you will see the option to use a MyWay+ pass.

Select the MyWay+ pass and a QR code* will be displayed. This code can be scanned on the QR reader located under the new MyWay+ validators, either on board buses or at light rail stations.

Your ticket will also appear automatically if you begin a journey. A 'Show Ticket' button will be available to quickly bring up your ticket while planning your journey.

Learn more about scanning QR codes.

*Note: this a dynamic QR code that will change each time you open and use the MyWay+ pass. This means you cannot take a screenshot of the QR code and use it at a later time as the code will no longer be valid. You must scan the QR code directly from the MyWay+ app to ensure it functions properly.

Remember, to ensure you receive the correct fare, always tap on and tap off with the same card or device. This includes the MyWay+ pass QR code.

Payment methods

You can manage and update your payment methods within the MyWay+ app. More details can be found in the MyWay+ account set up section of this page.

You can also check your account balance directly from the app.

Transaction and travel history

You can access your detailed transactions and travel history from the MyWay+ app.

Once you have logged into your MyWay+ account, select ‘account history’ from the menu.

Adjust the ‘from date’ and ‘to date’ to expand the date range for transaction or travel history. Then select ‘search’ to see all the history for the selected date duration.

You can select to the number of entries to display by selecting from the drop down menu at ‘show 10, 20 or 50 entries’ under the account summary section.
